I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.
The feature
A calendar-based view for photos with multiple aggregation levels (year, quarter, month, week, and day) would significantly improve navigation.
Managing an archive of more than 30 years of photos makes it difficult to locate images from specific periods, such as 10 or 12 years ago. The current workflow requires extensive timeline scrolling or a multi-step process: searching by date, opening a photo, and then switching back to the timeline view.
This proposal is distinct from the ability to jump directly to a known date. The goal is not direct access to a specific day, but fast navigation across time ranges. In many cases, the exact date is unknown; the user only has an approximate temporal context. A hierarchical calendar view would allow drilling down from broader periods to finer granularity, or drilling up when needed, until the desired photos are located.
A dedicated calendar view with granular time aggregation would streamline this process, reducing navigation friction and enabling a more efficient exploration of large, long-term photo libraries.
